Description

Master Secrets: Chess is an attacking game!

Chess is all about attacking, and the most exciting attacks are assaults on the enemy king. Such attacks often seem like magic: a cascading series of sacrifices that leaves the enemy helpless. However, masters know the really hard part of attacking is the careful preparation that makes brilliant sacrifices possible. Winter Camp 2015 goes "behind the scenes" to see how attacks are created. We'll explore great attacking games to learn methods masters use to overwhelm their opponent's positions. These same techniques can win games for you, too!

Winter Camp 2015 is a workshop for improving your practical results through extensive "hands-on" training with puzzles, exercise positions to play out, and formal competition. The program is specifically designed to help kids prepare for Regional Championships, State Finals, and the OSCF Championships in Seaside.

The Chess Odyssey camp program has developed over 18 years and 176 camps, Mornings are mostly devoted to group learning, small group coaching, skill building exercises, and individual interaction with our staff. Afternoons are spent practicing and refining skills and understanding in formal and recreational play. Campers are divided into study groups based on their age and experience. Some of our students are state champions (we’ve trained 60 of them); others are figuring out how the pieces move. We treasure each and every one of them. Our twin goals for our students are learning & laughter. Happy, excited kids having fun learning a great game with their friends is what we are all about.
