Masters-In-Training: Warriors - First Steps to Winning Chess

Warriors is our entry level program.  The only requirements are knowing the rules of chess, and the desire to learn more about this fascinating game of attack and counterattack.  We’ll learn the tricks and traps masters use to win their opponent’s pieces or checkmate their king.  We’ll also learn how to avoid the snares your opponent sets for you.  As we explore positions from student and master games, we’ll start learning the Dynamic Balance method of understanding a chess position, and the use of the Strategic Compass to find your way through the complicated jungle of a chess position.

Warriors meets from 4:30 - 5:30 on Tuesday afternoons.
